Kurume Ramen, the birthplace of tonkotsu ramen◆
Fukuoka residents take this for granted, but it's a fact not widely known throughout Japan.
Although not widely known, Kurume City is the birthplace of tonkotsu ramen!

□History of the Origin of Tonkotsu Ramen□
In 1937, the founder of "Nankin Senryo," inspired by the popular Yokohama shina soba and the champon from his hometown of Nagasaki, developed a tonkotsu (pork bone) soup that maintained transparency. Ten years later, after the war in 1947, at the ramen shop "Sankyu" in Kurume City, the soup was accidentally simmered for too long during preparation, and from this accidental failure, the milky white tonkotsu soup we know today was born. In the 1970s, people started calling the cloudy ramen "tonkotsu ramen." And tonkotsu ramen, born in Kurume, spread from "Sankyu" to various parts of Kyushu, and then to the world!

□Liquid soup, not powder soup□
Most instant ramen uses powdered soup, but to deliver the concentrated, aromatic deliciousness of fresh taste, we intentionally use more costly liquid soup! Liquid soup brings out more flavor than powder!

□Stick Ramen□
A beloved local food by Fukuoka residents! Loved not only by Fukuoka residents but by people across Kyushu.
Instant noodles became popular after Marutai Co., Ltd. launched them in 1959, and "stick ramen" began to be produced by noodle factories in Fukuoka Prefecture, coinciding with the straight thin noodles of tonkotsu ramen. Unlike common noodles that are deep-fried, stick ramen is non-fried and non-steamed, making it healthy. We are committed to "making noodles that rival fresh noodles even when dried," and we produce aged noodles with a firm texture through a manufacturing method called "multi-water aged noodles," with an extended aging time.
Incidentally, "Bō Ramen" (stick ramen) is a registered trademark of Marutai Co., Ltd.

□Monuments to the birthplace of tonkotsu ramen□
There are two monuments in Kurume City marking the birthplace of tonkotsu ramen!
① 6-18 Hiyoshicho, Kurume City - Installed near the entrance of the drinking district known as Bunkagai.
② 2 Chuomachi, Kurume City - Installed alongside a street stall monument at the west exit of JR Kurume Station.
